Bill Dixon's 1962 Corvette

I have done a full body-off rebuild/restoration of the car. It is painted Fawn Beige, with the red interior which was an optional (and very rare) colour combination for the 1962 model.
I bought the car in 1993 from Australian "rock star" Jimmy Barnes, who had spent a lot of money to make it go fast, but not much money making it look good. The paint was faded red, the interior was very ratty, and there was plenty of other things to tidy up. My ex-girlfriend caused some minor fiberglass damage to the left front fender when she ran off the road and hit a post, so I decided to finally fix the car up and do a full body-off restoration..
The restoration was started in November 1995, and completed in March 1997. During the disassembly, I discovered that the car was originally Fawn Beige and I decided to do the car in that colour.
At the end of 1998 I had some work done on the engine, after much pressure from my dad who is a big fan of cubic inches. My car now has a 383 which produces 411hp at 5500rpm and 460lb/ft of torque at 4000rpm.
I drive the car regularly, and occasionally take a trip to the local drag strip. My best time (with the old 350 engine) was 14.0 at 99.6 mph. Since the new engine has been installed, I have also changed the rear end to a positraction 3.55 ratio, and I now have a best quarter mile of 12.700 at 112.4 mph.
