Specs on the 383 in my 1962 Corvette.
Assembled by Sam's Performance, Padstow, Sydney, Australia.
The engine that I had in the car when I bought it was a slightly modified 350. It had double-hump "fuellie" heads dated 1964, and an intake manifold and Carter carb that seem to be from a 340hp 1963 Corvette. The engine produced 258hp and 313lb/ft of torque, which was pretty good for kicks. My dad has a 1971 Corvette, which has a stroker big-block producing almost 500hp, and he had been on my case for ages to get my engine stroked.
We used the following parts.
The existing 350 block (40 thou overbore) which had to be machined extensively.
Scat stroker crank.
Manely 5.7 inch rods.
Trick Flow aluminum heads and Trick Flow valves.
Crane roller rockers.
Isky springs and retainers.
Edelbrock Performer intake (used due to low hood clearance).
Rochester Quadrajet carb.
Billet Specialties valve covers.
And the numbers we got on the engine dyno were as follows...
| RPM | Horsepower | Torque |
| 2000 | 147 | 387 |
| 2500 | 199 | 418 |
| 3000 | 246 | 432 |
| 3500 | 303 | 454 |
| 4000 | 350 | 460 |
| 4500 | 379 | 443 |
| 5000 | 400 | 420 |
| 5500 | 411 | 393 |
